About the NSF International

Founded in 1944, the mission of the NSF International is to protect and improve global human health. Manufacturers, regulators and consumers look to us to facilitate the development of public health standards and certifications that help protect food, water, consumer products and the environment. As an independent, accredited organization, we test, audit and certify products and systems as well as provide education and risk management.

This mark is your assurance that the product has been tested by one of the most respected independent certification organizations in existence today. It is valued by consumers, manufacturers, retailers and regulatory agencies worldwide.
Sunterra Outdoors Argentine, Argentine Brasero and Santa Maria grills if chosen, are available as a NSF certified program by choosing an NSF package upgrade.

Certified Products

Our NSF program consists of a high heat grayish black powder coating and Heavy Duty Swivel Caster and Tire offered in a gray polypropylene for easy maintenance. All prod-ucts featuring those benefits will carry the NSF mark.

Health Code Compliance

Not all health departments require everything in your kitchen to be NSF Certified. That being said, everything in your kitchen that is NSF Certified, will definitely meet any health department requirements. NSF International closely monitors all jurisdictions to make sure that NSF standards meet or exceed federal, state, and local health codes. In the U.S., local health departments perform inspections to verify compliance. Not having certified equipment can often raise compliance issues and even put a new restaurant’s opening on hold.

Protect Your Customers

Your customers expect and deserve safe food. According to the CDC, roughly 48 million people a year contract a food-borne illness. Furthermore, 128,000 of those need to seek treatment at a hospital, and approximately 3,000 die. Poorly designed or malfunctioning equipment can lead to cross-contamination and disease outbreak. According to the National Restaurant Association, even a single food-borne illness outbreak can result in loss of sales, the negative PR, lawsuits, and increased insurance premiums all contribute to increased costs.

Achieve Operational Excellence

Often times, chains and franchises will require that equipment in their local operations be NSF Certified. In addition to the reasons above, this helps promote a culture of food safety within their organization. This can encourage additional safety measures, and improve employee morale and job satisfaction.
